In 2003 I had an outstanding bowhunt with Ken Swaim of Beaverhead Lodge in New Mexico near Truth or Consequences. Land owner tags are expensive ($2,000), plus the cost of the bowhunt. The reason for this high price is demand. Ken has a super area with lots of big bulls. And he has great guides working for him. You can put in for a draw for a tag for about $700, but your chances to get drawn are not high. Even so, I got drawn for a tag in my first try, and my Doctor got drawn this year for a tag on his first attempt. I took a very nice Pope and Young bull and highly recommend this hunt. I am returning to bowhunt here in September 2005.
